IIT Jammu M.Tech Admission 2026: Key Dates & Fees
IIT Jammu is set to open its online application portal for various Master of Technology (M.Tech) programmes on March 28, 2026. Prospective candidates must act quickly, as the application window will close on April 15, 2026. The application process is entirely digital and must be completed through the institute’s official website. To finalize the registration, candidates from the General, OBC, and EWS categories must pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 300. For candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories, the application fee is reduced to Rs. 200.
Eligibility Criteria for M.Tech Programmes
To be considered for admission, applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or technology discipline. A minimum of 60% aggregate marks (or a 6.0 CGPA on a 10-point scale) is required for General category students, with a relaxation to 55% (or 5.5 CGPA) for SC, ST, and PwD candidates. However, for the Civil Engineering specialisation, the bar is slightly higher at 65% (60% for reserved categories). Crucially, all applicants must possess a valid Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) score.
How to Apply and The Selection Process
A critical prerequisite for applying is registration on the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). The COAP registration number is mandatory to fill out the IIT Jammu application form. Within a single application, candidates are permitted to choose a maximum of two specialisations. The final selection is heavily influenced by the candidate’s GATE score, which accounts for at least 70% of the evaluation weightage. Depending on the specific department and the number of applicants, the institute may also conduct a written test and/or an interview to finalize the merit list. Marks from Class 10 and 12 could also be considered in the comprehensive evaluation.
