Candidates must strictly adhere to the NTA’s latest guidelines for a smooth JEE Main 2026 exam experience.

The JEE Main 2026 April session is just around the corner, and the National Testing Agency (NTA) has dropped a critical advisory with new rules. Overlooking these last-minute guidelines could jeopardize your entry into the exam hall and disrupt your focus on the big day.

  • Mandatory Aadhaar-based biometric verification is now in place at all exam centers.
  • Candidates without Aadhaar registration must report at least one hour before gate closure for manual verification.
  • Strict frisking and biometric re-verification will be conducted after every single bio-break.

Biometric Verification: The New Checkpoint

The NTA has implemented a stringent Aadhaar-based biometric verification process for all candidates. It is crucial to ensure your Aadhaar biometric authentication is unlocked to facilitate a smooth entry. For those who registered without Aadhaar, the rules are even stricter: you must arrive at the center at least 60 minutes before the final entry time to complete the necessary biometric procedures. Failure to do so could lead to delays or even denial of entry.

Essential Documents and Items to Carry

On exam day, every candidate must bring a clear, colour printout of their downloaded NTA admit card on A4 paper. Alongside this, an original, valid photo ID proof (the same one uploaded during application) is mandatory; photocopies or digital copies will be rejected. Remember to carry at least two recent passport-sized photographs, as one will be affixed to the attendance sheet. For B.Arch aspirants, carrying your own geometry box, pencils, and colours is permitted, but watercolours are strictly forbidden.

Special Instructions and Dress Code

The NTA has issued specific instructions for certain candidates. Students with diabetes can carry sugar tablets, fruits, and a transparent water bottle. A strict dress code is also in effect—avoid wearing shoes with thick soles or garments with large buttons. However, Sikh candidates are permitted to wear their religious articles like the Kara and Kirpan. If you received an email from NTA regarding a photo mismatch, you must bring the required Photo Verification Certificate, duly attested, to the center. Adhering to these protocols is non-negotiable for a hassle-free examination experience.
