Big news for engineering graduates! The much-awaited schedule for the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP) 2026 has been officially released, setting the stage for MTech admissions into prestigious IITs and recruitment by top Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs).

  • The COAP 2026 registration portal for MTech and PSU aspirants will open shortly.
  • A detailed 10-round counselling schedule has been announced, starting from May 11.
  • Candidates with a valid GATE score from 2024, 2025, or 2026 are eligible to participate.

If you’ve qualified the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE), this is the moment you’ve been waiting for. The COAP is the centralized platform for accepting admission offers from premier institutes like IISc Bengaluru and over 20 IITs, including those in Bombay, Delhi, Madras, and Kanpur. It’s crucial to remember that while COAP is for accepting offers, you must still apply individually to the institutes and PSUs you are interested in.

GATE COAP 2026: Important Dates

The admission process is structured into several rounds to ensure a smooth allocation process. The first round of offers will be released on May 11, with subsequent rounds following a weekly schedule. The initial four rounds, running until early June, will provide candidates with flexible options. However, from the fifth round onwards, the choices become more decisive, guiding applicants toward finalizing their seats.

Understanding Your COAP Options

During the counselling process, you will be presented with three primary choices for each offer: ‘Accept and Freeze,’ ‘Retain and Wait,’ or ‘Reject.’ The ‘Retain and Wait’ option, which allows you to hold an offer while waiting for a better one, is only available in the first few rounds and has limited usage per institute. As the rounds progress, especially from Round 5, you will only have the ‘Accept and Freeze’ or ‘Reject’ options, so it’s vital to make strategic decisions. Failing to select an option within the given timeframe will result in the automatic rejection of that offer. Stay updated with StudyHub for the direct registration link and further guidance.
