Aspiring nurses must keep a close watch on the calendar to avoid missing crucial deadlines. The registration window is currently active and will shut down on April 19. If you happen to make any errors during the application process, a correction window will be available from April 21 to April 23, allowing you to make necessary changes. Following this, admit cards will be issued online on June 4, leading up to the main examination on June 14, which will be conducted from 12:00 PM to 1:30 PM.
Who is Eligible for WB ANM & GNM 2026?
To qualify for the exam, candidates must have successfully completed their Class 12 examination from a recognized board with at least 40% aggregate marks. A key local requirement is proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking either Bengali or Nepali. It’s important to note that while the ANM (Auxiliary Nursing & Midwifery) course is exclusively for female candidates, both male and female candidates are welcome to apply for the GNM (General Nursing & Midwifery) course. In a move to encourage wider participation, there is no upper age limit for applicants.
Decoding the Exam Pattern
The WB ANM & GNM exam will be a 1.5-hour offline test designed to assess your knowledge across several key subjects: Life Science, Physical Science, Basic English, Mathematics, General Knowledge, and Logical Reasoning. The paper consists of 100 questions for a total of 115 marks, divided into two distinct sections. Category 1 includes 85 questions worth one mark each, with a penalty of one-fourth mark for every incorrect answer. Category 2 contains 15 higher-value questions worth two marks each, with no negative marking for wrong attempts, offering a strategic chance to boost your score.
Application Fees and Final Steps
To finalize your application, a non-refundable fee is required. Candidates from the General category must pay ₹400, while those from SC, ST, OBC-A, OBC-B, EWS, and orphan categories have a reduced fee of ₹300.
