How Does the IIT JAM Counselling Process Work?

The counselling is conducted entirely online through a series of four admission rounds, with the possibility of additional rounds if seats remain vacant. Once you receive an offer in any round, you will be presented with three critical options. You can choose to ‘Accept and Freeze’ the offered seat, ‘Accept with Upgrade’ to be considered for higher preferences in subsequent rounds, or ‘Reject and Quit’ to exit the admission process entirely. It is vital to understand these choices as they directly impact your final admission status. Candidates who opt for an upgrade can check their revised allocation status when the next list is published.
