शादी के लिए लड़की भगाना! (Kidnapping for Marriage)। भारत में यह एक बहुत ही आम (Common) लेकिन गंभीर अपराध है। यदि कोई मनचला युवा किसी लड़की को उसकी 'मर्जी के बिना' ज़बरदस्ती उठा ले जाता है—उसका मकसद उससे जबरन शादी (Forced Marriage) करना या शारीरिक संबंध (Illicit Intercourse) बनाना होता है। ऐसे मामलों में पुलिस उस पर पुरानी IPC 366 (अब BNS 96 और 140(3)) लगाती है। इसमें 10 वर्ष तक कठोर कारावास की 'गैर-जमानती (Non-Bailable)' सजा होती है।
तुलना
महिलाओं के विरुद्ध अपराध (Crimes against women) के अध्याय में इसे BNS 96 के तहत विशेष स्थान दिया गया है, जबकि व्यपहरण (Kidnapping) के सामान्य प्रावधान BNS 140 में भी हैं। दोनों में सजा 10 वर्ष है।
